So here we are. Please bear with the presentation, obviously I don't totally understand how to use this yet.

My name is Tom Bishop, I'm an NQT at Somerville Primary School and am writing this for a limited audience of my boss, workmates, my mate’s dad and those family and friends who will possibly be interested. Most of this is experimental at the moment - just to work out how to do things I envisage will be useful when this is used to help pupil learning.

I have tried two ways of linking pictures and both have worked fine. The second option is probably better as it uses an application which has a lot of features which can be played with - but would hard for the pupils to use. I think that we would need to have access to an area on the school website for pictures to be hosted in the future.

So.... here (hopefully) is a slideshow using bubbleshare as a host ....

[bubbleshare 329757.4bccc48edf6]

And I guess I should check that I can add videos too. A friend of mine who teaches geography and citizenship at Bishop Challenor secondary created one which is available on the terminally controversial youtube website....  (I wouldn't use it in its current state, I'd need to find a way of uploading the vids or having them hosted elsewhere).....

As I will use Powerpoint Presentations on here, I thought I'd try and host one, it's been relatively easy, but again I've had to upload the presentation to a hosting site (slideshare.net) and I'm not sure how much this would be encouraged for the pupils to do, but we'll see...

If you are reading this it would be nice if you would write a comment so I can see how to manage those, and also to subscribe to the blog so that I can check I've done that correctly too. Obviously anything constructive, or otherwise is most welcome.

Cheers

Tom

Wow! I like it. Nice touch using my video by the way. How do you justify Highbury Park as a wonder of the world?
    Cheers.

Cheers Tsinton, I knew I could rely on you for some enthusiastic encouragement. I’m pleased that I have to confirm comments before they are put on the site, that’ll help with the kids’ use.
Oh, and Highbury Park; basically it’s personal, it’s my wonder of the world because it’s a place that is full of happy memories from the age of 6/7 onwards. A place that means something to me, I felt it gives pupils more access to the lesson as they can all think of somewhere that they enjoy going to even if on the face of it the location might seem mundane to others.
